Funding for 3 and 4 Year Olds

In England all three and four year olds are entitled to up to 15 hours of free childcare a week for up to 38 weeks a year. This is to give children the opportunity to take part in planned learning activities, and help prepare them for school through the early learning goals set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage

Funding forms will be handed out, via your key person at the beginning of each term.

Extended entitlement (+15)

This funding added to the universal 15 creates the 30 ‘Free’ hours promised by the government.

  • Eligibility criteria - In a two-parent family, both must work full or part-time and in a one parent family the sole parent must work full or part-time. Each parent must earn at least £107 per week (£5,574 per year) but less than £100,000 per year

  • Claim process- Visit www.childcarechoices.gov.uk to register.

  • Once registered, eligible parents will receive a 12-digit eligibility code which you'll need to pass on to us to show that you are eligible for the 30 hours of childcare.

  • You should only have to check once before your child starts at Tringham Pre-school. Although we are responsible for recording the code, the local authority will be responsible for checking to make sure that you are still entitled to funding twice each term. They will tell us if a parent is no longer eligible for the extra hours, and when the grace period ends and funding will stop for the additional hours. These children will then only get the universal 15 hours of free entitlement.

All or part of the 30 hours can be claimed at Tringham Pre-school
